Responsible for driving the van/vehicle to and from assigned destinations to pick up and deliver patients and or supplies safely.
1.
Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience in the field of transportation with a safe driving record.
Must have a valid Alabama Driver's license.
2.
Must possess the following skills:
Organizational, verbal, interpersonal, good customer relations, mathematical, analytical, grammar, spelling, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
3.
Must have current BLS Certification.
POSITION
Responsibilities:
1.

Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication.

Assess, distinguish, report and act upon the physical, social, developmental, and environmental needs of all patients.
3.
Adhere to established hospital and department guidelines and protocols.
Support hospital mission, vision, and values.
4.
Complete position responsibilities by following established guidelines and protocols within the appropriate time frame.
5.
Maintain education and development appropriate for position.
6.
Perform position specific job functions at an acceptable level.
7.
Must be of good moral character.
8.
Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position and set the proper example.

Must function independently and have personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with personnel and agencies.

Must be in good health and demonstrate emotional stability.

Must treat patients, family members and referral sources with dignity and respect.

Greet all passengers in a friendly, courteous, and helpful manner.
13.
Respond to passengers' requests that conform to procedures, guidelines, listen politely and attentively to all request that are not within guidelines, and communicate these requests to supervisor/designee for direction.
14.
Open the door and physically assist all passengers on and off the vehicle.
15.
Stress the need for and enforce utilization of passenger seat belts for passenger safety.
16.
Arrive to work on time and when scheduled and prepare to start your run-on schedule as specified by supervisor.
17.
Communicate with passengers in a positive manner.
If disagreement should occur, attempt to Resolve in a calm and courteous manner and refer to supervisor/designee for resolution of the matter.
18.
Ensure that vehicle is safe and report deficiencies to supervisor immediately.
19.
Check vehicle at the beginning of each shift or if vehicle assignment changes during a shift, ensure that necessary maintenance and safety features are at a desired level as documented on the vehicle maintenance check sheet and verified by supervisor.
20.
Keep vehicle clean as required, rear view mirrors, windshield, isles, and driver's area as verified by supervisor or observed and reported.
21.
Pick up and deliver assigned passengers or errands on time or notify supervisor of any delays as they develop.
22.
Have supervisor or designee approve any unscheduled stop as observed and reported.
23.
Never allow patients to get off bus for shopping at stores or restaurants.
24.
Drive safely and courteously and comply with all Alabama driving and traffic regulations.
25.
Make sure supervisor always has an updated phone number where you can be always reached while on duty.
26.
Attend all State required transportation meetings as assigned by West Alabama Mental Health Services and Tombigbee Healthcare Authority.
27.
Notify base immediately if any passenger becomes injured or ill in the vehicle and then Proceed as directed by supervisor.
28.
Prepare detailed, written Incident Report and Statement form at the end of the shift as specified by supervisor.
29.
Notify supervisor/designee if driver leave vehicle unattended and secured as observed or reported.
30.
Notify supervisor/designee personal, as well as document on maintenance check sheet, any problems with the vehicle.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
